Job Description:
Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. Join our dynamic team of educators committed to fostering student success! As a full-time faculty member, you will:
  • Teach & Engage: Lead up to 15 credit hours per semester, using diverse teaching methods to connect with all student populations, both in-person and online.
  • Support Students: Be accessible through 10 on-campus or virtual office hours weekly, offering personalized academic advising and timely feedback on assignments.
  • Innovate & Collaborate: Use learning management systems, develop engaging curriculum, and work with colleagues to maintain a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to Community: Participate in college events, committees, and professional development activities that align with our mission.
  • Ensure Compliance & Quality: Uphold college standards and federal guidelines, incorporate equitable teaching practices, and continually refine your teaching approach.
  • Lead: Provide oversite and feedback to part-time faculty and develop plans for program success

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Licensed Pharmacist or Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician who graduated from an ASHP/ACPE-accredited pharmacy technician training program.
  • Two years of experience working in a pharmacy within the past five years.
  • Associate degree in the teaching field or required credentials specified in the VCCS-29: Normal Criteria for Each Faculty Rank
  • Demonstration of strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Demonstration of ability to facilitate student success in higher education
  • Willingness to assume relevant technological skills required for effective teaching
  • Willingness to assume duties to support the strategic goals of Germanna Community College
  • Demonstration of commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
  • Indication of teaching and service furthering the goal of building a culturally diverse educational environment Experience with or willingness to learn AI tools

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Pharmacy or related field
  • Community college teaching experience
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
  • Track record of leadership
  • Experience teaching in an online environment (synchronous/asynchronous) and use of a learning management system such as Canvas
