Job Description
The Davis School of Business at
Colorado Mesa University is seeking candidates for the rank of Assistant
Professor of Entrepreneurship. Candidates
may come from diverse backgrounds, with a range of experiences, achievements,
and leadership roles, either within or outside academia. Academic candidates
should possess a terminal degree relevant to their discipline, while
non-academic candidates should have significant industry, business, or
corporate experience relevant to the teaching area. The position is full-time,
tenure-track starting August 2025. As a
member of the Davis School of Business, you will be expected to teach
undergraduate and graduate courses primarily in Entrepreneurship.
Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is
a state-funded institution that emphasizes quality teaching and research,
having embraced the teacher-scholar model. The standard
teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; courses are delivered on-campus,
online, and in hybrid format, though our main focus is on in-person learning on
a dynamic residential campus. Interest in working with the MBA program and MBA
students is desirable. In addition to
teaching, scholarship within your discipline is expected along with advising
students and service at the school and university level.
CMU is a modern campus nestled in
the Grand Valley in beautiful western Colorado, home of Colorado's wine and
fruit country (including the famous Palisade peaches), with close access to
some of the best outdoor activities in the region including skiing, hiking,
biking, fishing, river rafting and kayaking, and many other outdoor

Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- For academic candidates, a terminal degree (PhD or DBA) in Entrepreneurship, or related discipline with significant coursework (at least 18 graduate credit hours) in Entrepreneurship/Small Business Management; ABD with a dissertation defense date and completion of all degree requirements on or before August 2025 will be considered.
- For non-academic candidates, a Master's degree in Entrepreneurship or closely related field with significant work experience will also be considered at a negotiable rank.
- Demonstrated potential for exceptional teaching performance.
- Commitment to best practices in instruction, student advising/mentoring, and curriculum development.
- Demonstrated dedication to advancing a research agenda and producing scholarly work relevant to entrepreneurship.
- Demonstrated potential for active involvement in institutional, community, and/or professional activities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching college-level Entrepreneurship courses beyond student teaching.
- Five plus years of business industry experience is strongly preferred given our hands-on, application-oriented approach in the classroom.
- Experience managing or consulting for business start-ups, an entrepreneurship center, business incubator, and/or similar organization.
