Research Program Coordinator

Job Description

The Department of Neurology is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to join our team. This position will assist scientists in the collection and curation of data related to speech, eye movement, and handwriting in participants with neurodegenerative diseases. The coordinator will contribute to the development of new feature extraction techniques to identify potential digital biomarkers and perform statistical analyses to detect and assess neurodegenerative diseases. A Research Program Coordinator is vital in advancing academic research and contributes to the faculty's success in their scholarly pursuits. This position provides valuable support in research activities, enabling faculty members to focus on their academic and scientific contributions to their respective fields.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


Work with Research participants

  • Recruit and consent participants of our study.
  • Assist scientists in data collection and curation of speech, eye movement, and handwriting data from participants with neurodegenerative diseases.


Equipment and protocol management

  • Collaborate with the research team to design and implement research protocols and experimental designs.
  • Collaborate in the technical setup of the equipment (eye trackers, digital pads, soundcards, etc.)


Data management and analysis

  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant participant database, maintain data archives, and organize files.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of research activities and findings.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new feature extraction techniques for potential digital biomarkers.
  • Perform basic statistical analysis of collected data to detect and assess neurodegenerative diseases.


Other duties

  • Assist in conducting literature searches and synthesizing research articles, reports, and other scholarly materials relevant to the research area.
  • Work collaboratively with other research coordinators, students, and faculty members.
  • Ensure that lab space is kept clean and organized.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.


Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a research team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with participants and the rest of the research team.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in related field.
  • Experience with statistics or data science.
  • Experience in the field of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Experience working with eye-tracking technology.
  • Knowledge in machine learning.
  • Knowledge of research protocols and a solid understanding of experimental design.
  • Knowledge of eye movement, speech, and handwriting physiological signals.
  • Skills in Python programming, mathematics, and statistics.

Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/03/CD  
Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY (Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Full Time 
Schedule: M-F 8:30 am - 5:00 pm 
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt 
Location: Hybrid/School of Medicine Campus
