Position Summary

This is administrative work involving supervising, coordinating and managing all financial aid programs and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Financial Services at all Calhoun campuses.

Salary: Appropriate placement on the ACCS Salary Schedule C, Rank I: $86,795 - $128,692

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide financial aid services to students, parents, and other interested community persons.
  • Practice and teach staff excellent customer service skills.
  • Develop, review, and update financial aid forms, consumer information, Policy and Procedure Manual, related web pages, and printed materials used in the administration and dissemination of information of the various financial aid programs.
  • Develop, supervise, and mentor personnel with special attention to the needs of the department to stay abreast of changing regulations and best practices.
  • Establish office routines and procedures to be used in maintaining records of aid applicants and program activities.
  • Assign duties and supervise student financial services office personnel at all Calhoun locations.
  • Coordinate the financial aid component of the Banner software.
  • Coordinate the financial aid process.
  • Authorize and monitor the disbursement of all aid including Pell, loans, VA, SEOG, work study, and state grants.
  • Review and approve student records for those requesting Professional Judgment decisions.
  • Monitor student financial aid records for the prevention of over awards.
  • Coordinate Annual Veterans Affairs Program
  • Manage the College’s Federal Pell Grant Ability to Benefit program.
  • Manage/supervise Call-Center Implementation Default Management contracts; managing the Escalations and reports daily.
  • Serve on College Committees.
  • Coordinate all financial aid regulatory reporting including but not limited to Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP), Net Price Calculator, Gainful Employment Disclosure requirements, Program Participation agreements (PPA), and Eligibility & Certification Approval Report (eCAR).
  • Assure risks associated with financial aid are well managed, particularly student loan defaults, and timely and accurate regulatory disclosures and filings.
  • Work with the Director of Admissions and Records, the Director of Accounting, and the Vice President of Student Services to provide consistency of services across offices.
  • Ensure compliance with financial value transparency (FVT)/Gainful Employment Reporting(GE).
  • Perform all duties with professionalism.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Services.

 

Qualifications

 

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years full-time work experience in student financial services is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years administrative experience in a college or university setting at the coordinator level or higher is required

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:
  • Proficient computer usage in administrative software systems such as Datatel/Colleague, Ellucian/Banner, or PeopleSoft.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State policies and regulations with regards to student financial aid.
  • Ability to read, interpret and explain college, state and federal policies and procedures regarding financial assistance programs.
  • Knowledge of office management.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to keep complex records and prepare accurate reports.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public in a pleasant and effective manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds including students, parents, college employees, federal agency representatives and the public.
