Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

This position is a 12-month, full-time status. The Program Manager for Faculty Affairs will oversee and support high-priority projects from concept to implementation for the Chair and faculty of the Department of Geographical Sciences. At the Department level, the Program Manager will manage the Tenure Track and Professional Track faculty’s progression through the APT/AEP, pre-tenure review, and merit processes, and ensure the faculty activity reports, and faculty merit reviews are completed and reports generated as needed for the Director of Administrative Services and Chair. In addition, the Program Manager will oversee developing and updating departmental faculty policies to be compatible with campus ATP/AEP policy updates. This position will also manage all the TTK and PTK faculty (paid and non paid) contracts, Workday postings and/or search waivers, visa processing (new visas and renewals), and actions to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The Program Manager will be a primary point of contact with the Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) college regarding faculty policies and contracts. Accomplishing these objectives require this individual to have the skills to manage many concurrent projects, combined with a willingness to engage the constantly changing set of tasks necessary to advance GEOG’s mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • A bachelor’s degree.

Experience:
3-5 years of business operations experience, preferably in an academic environment. Years of experience can be substituted for a degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent project management skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to multitask with demanding timeframes and ambiguous requirements.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, research, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience interpreting, advising on, and applying governing documents and Plans of Organization.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with excellent editing and proofreading ability.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as a team member with a wide variety of responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding Department business and files.
  • Strong technical and computer skills to support project management and administrative functions including MS Office Suite with an emphasis on PowerPoint, Excel and database skills, electronic calendar management, various videoconferencing applications such as Webex, etc., and email applications.
