Position Summary:

The Administrative Services Assistant is responsible for a wide range of procurement, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cashiering, and administrative services at a Community College.

 

Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Director or Associate Director of Finance and Administrative Services, the Administrative Services Assistant t is accountable for the effective performance in these essential functional areas:

  • Procurement and accounts payable
  • Accounts Receivable and cashiering
  • Scheduling events and facilities
  • Inventory/asset management
  • Payroll processing and labor contracts

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings.  These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in an appropriately related field or a combination of education, training and 
experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following: 

  • Experience working in a cashiers, finance, financial aid, or other similar financial and/or business office.

Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Financial, Student, or Human Resources databases, to process financial transactions such as Banner, Peoplesoft, etc.
  • Experience in Accounting/Finance.
  • Experience adhering to state government requirements. 
  • Experience with Accounts Receivable including processing payments and generating deposit slips and reconciliations
  • Experience serving the public.
  • Experience in an educational environment.

 

Starting Salary:

Minimum Salary; $54,141 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity.

Selection Procedure:

Following the closing date, application materials will be evaluated by a selection committee.
