We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Accounting to join our team. The Director of Accounting is a pivotal position that reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The Director holds significant responsibility for providing leadership and ensuring the overall success of the accounting functions within the organization. This encompasses tasks such as gathering and meticulously analyzing financial data, generating comprehensive financial reports, and overseeing several essential accounting and financial reporting functions. These functions include managing financial and regulatory reporting, overseeing accounts receivable and collections, implementing and monitoring internal controls and risk management, conducting thorough research and analysis, managing the procure-to-pay cycle, and ensuring compliance with contractual documents and government regulations.


Essential Functions

  • Oversee the accounting operations including GL, A/R, A/P, Cash, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets
  • Direct and oversee month-end and year-end close processes, improving existing processes to maintain a 5-day close and consolidation.
  • Create scalable business processes, emphasizing internal controls and business process documentation. Ensure our Accounting and control environment meets standards and protects Company assets.
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements, including inter-company eliminations and associated flux analyses, to support the annual financial audit.
  • Implement strong reporting and processes around the Company's Capital investments, particularly related to our retail stores and operations.
  • Partner with Project Management and IT teams to optimize financial processes within the current ERP system.
  • Research and apply technical accounting standards, ensuring compliance with US GAAP
  • Direct the annual audit with internal partners and external auditors.
  • Oversee and manage the daily treasury functions within the company and the outside bank
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams and third-party providers of software & services.
  • Develop a customer service-oriented culture within the department emphasizing the importance of internal and external customer service.
  • Additional duties as necessary


Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other business-related
  • Advanced credentials such as a Master of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
  • Minimum of Seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience
  • Minimum of three (3) in a leadership and management role
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, Heavy fixed assets, and inventory
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and multitask to meet established deadlines effectively.
  • Experience with managing and creating annual financial budgets and building financial models within Excel
  • Thorough understanding of ERP and accounting software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software


Supervisory Responsibility

Directly supervises sub-ledger managers in A/R, A/P, and G/L.

While performing this job, the employee must stand for long periods, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone, keyboard reach, stoop, and kneel. This person must be able to lift, carry, or set down up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by his job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

This is a full-time position Exempt position.
