Our college offers baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees in a wide range of traditional and professional disciplines; it serves business, industry, government, public education, and individual citizens of the state through teaching, research, and engagement. These programs are carried out in ten academic units. Each functional area is funded by combinations of state appropriations, public and private contracts and grants, miscellaneous gifts and receipts, and sales and service receipts. Currently, the college employs 225 tenured/tenure track faculty, 239 professional track faculty, 97 staff, and383 graduate teaching and research assistants. The college has (for FY ‘21)103 endowments with a total market value of $11.8M and private fundraising $2.4M. Annual expenditures exceed $65 million. The college’s research is supported by an average of $6.4 million in annual grant and contract funding.
The data for academic programs and students include:
- Six B.S., 47 B.A., one Bachelor of Social Work, 14 Master’s, 5 Ph.D. Programs, and four graduate certificate programs.
- More than 4,500 college students, including double majors; about 81%undergraduates and 19% graduate students.
- Every NC State undergraduate student takes general education classes in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- The college graduates more undergrads each year than any other NC State college.
- The college offers three dual-degree programs with other colleges at NC State.
Essential Job Duties
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Budget and Financial Management:
- Maintain and monitor the spending plan for the Office of Faculty and Staff Development and Success, including state-appropriated and enhancement funds.
- Act as a liaison to CHASS HR and Finance offices, providing necessary information and documentation for financial and human resources transactions (e.g., student hires, additional pay, travel reimbursements, invoices).
- Assist with reporting and data management for faculty/staff development and success initiatives.
- Run queries, conduct surveys, gather feedback, and provide data to support faculty/staff success and belongingness.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Google Applications and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Approve actions in PA7 as the college Affirmative Action approval under the supervision of the Associate Dean.
- Coordinate college events focused on appreciation, recognition, and belongingness (e.g., awards, appreciation events).
- Organize professional development opportunities (e.g., orientations, mentoring programs, writing retreats, workshops).
- Manage college orientation for new and ongoing faculty and staff.
- Oversee onboarding and off-boarding of college leaders (Executive Leadership Team) to foster a culture of belongingness.
Other Responsibilities
- Serve as back up to Executive Assistant for the Dean
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Minimum Experience/Education
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
- Experienced with Google Applications (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drives, Sheets, Slides, Hangouts, Meeting Groups, etc)
- Ability to use complex functions of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) with an emphasis on Excel
- Experience with budget management and financial transactions
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Proven event planning and coordination experience, including the ability to manage logistics, coordinate with vendors and ensure successful execution of the event.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with university software systems, such as PeopleSoft HR & Financials, PeopleAdmin.
- Knowledge of departmental, college, and university policies and procedures
