Position Description
Instructs assigned non-transfer courses within the Biotechnology department and serves as an industry liaison to develop and teach related content.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

- Instructs courses in the Biotechnology department in an efficient and effective manner. Courses are predominately BioWork and continuing education but could also include coursework in the Biopharmaceutical Technology and Biotechnology AAS degree programs, or industry training.
- Works with various entities, such as the NC BioNetwork and NC Biotechnology Center, to develop course materials relevant to current trends in the region
- Tutors students who need assistance learning biotechnology concepts
- Completes administrative responsibilities, such as grading, taking attendance, testing, coursework development, counseling students, creating syllabi, etc.
*Uses a variety of instructional delivery methods and theory to create high-quality learning experiences for students*Creates and maintains lab environments and activities that enhance learning for students
- Learns virtual platforms, such as Blackboard and Moodle, and conducts virtual instruction as needed
Maintains regular office hours, scheduling time with students as needed
Serves on college or department committees as needed
Maintains professional certifications and seeks out opportunities for development
Participates in graduation exercises, open house events, etc. as requested
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to be innovative, creative, and motivated

Able to meet deadlines consistently
Demonstrates good organizational skills
Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
Communicates effectively, both written and verbal
Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
Understands the fundamentals of cGMP and industrial safety
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline

Preferences:
Experience in a biotechnology or biomanufacturing industry
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
Teaching experience in biotechnology or related fields
Experience with technology and software, including computers and web-based resources, such as BlackBoard and Moodle
Proficiency in Spanish and English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension
