Electronic Technician

Job Description

Overview

VTG is seeking an Electronic Technician to support multiple projects in the shipyards.


What will you do?

Comprehensive technical knowledge building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying developmental and electrical or electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems by performing the following duties:

  • Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with lead engineering technician and draws routine sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
  • Oversees the assembly of experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model.
  • Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Oversees and may set up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.
  • Pull in various cables on-board naval ships including, power, CAT 5, CAT 6, heliax, coax, and fiber optic.
  • Oversees and may adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.
  • May write technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.
  • Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.

Do you have what it takes?

Education/Experience:

  • BS in electronics plus three years of related work experience, AS plus four years of related experience, or HS or equivalent plus six years of work related experience and/or training. Full understanding and familiarization of electricity and electronics required.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Computer Skills:

  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid driver's license

Other:

  • Must be able to travel as required.

Pay Range: VTG's estimated starting pay range is $23/hr - $38/hr, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
