Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and proactive Part-Time Hourly Campus Security Officer to support our full-time security team and fill in as needed. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of our campus buildings, grounds, and personnel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for patrolling, monitoring, and responding to security incidents, assisting with daily operations, and ensuring a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:

Patrol campus buildings and grounds regularly, checking for safety and security concerns such as unlocked doors, damaged windows, or malfunctioning security systems.

Conduct physical checks to ensure the safety of buildings, parking areas, and other campus facilities.

Respond to emergency situations including medical emergencies, fire alarms, disturbances, and other incidents, and assisting as needed.

Provide safety escorts for students, staff, and visitors upon request.

Assist with unlocking doors for authorized personnel who are locked out of campus buildings or spaces.

Monitor and report incidents related to found property, suspicious behavior, or safety violations, submitting detailed incident reports as needed.

Assist with special events, vendor access, and other campus activities as required.

Help maintain campus safety equipment, including emergency call boxes and vehicle jump-starts.

Engage with campus community members, assisting with questions or concerns in a friendly and professional manner.

Complete additional duties as directed by full-time security staff or supervisors.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Prior experience in security, customer service, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential security concerns and respond appropriately.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse campus community.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-
Basic first aid and CPR certification may be required (or obtained upon hiring).

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
-
Valid driver’s license required.
Special Requirements:
-
This position is non-sworn—CSOs observe and report incidents, but do not detain or pursue suspects unless necessary for self-defense or protecting others.

Background check required for selected candidates.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screening as required for public safety positions.
-
Some evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required, depending on campus needs.

Up to 79.5 hours per month.
$25.00 per hour.
