Job Description

The Dual Credit Coordinator is responsible to the Assistant Director of Student Success and Director of Student Success.  This is a security sensitive position and is subject to a criminal history record. (Texas Government Code 411.094 & Texas Education Code 51.215) Specific duties include:

 

  1. Create partnerships, foster connections, share resources, and support student learning with service area high schools.
  2. Connect service area high schools with Vernon College to create a college going culture and support dual credit/concurrent enrollment.
  3. Conduct onsite visits to service area high schools to assist school staff, students, and parents regarding dual credit/concurrent enrollment. 
  4. Coordinate the flow of information between Vernon College and service area high schools with regards to dual credit/concurrent enrollment.
  5. Create and maintain an online and in-person dual credit/concurrent enrollment orientations for incoming high school students.
  6. Serve as the advisor of record for all dual credit/concurrent enrollment students and complete documentation such as advising requirement, advising notes, and registration notes.
  7. Oversee creation and maintenance of Memorandum of Understanding documents between Vernon College and service area independent school districts.
  8. Maintain a system for data collection, analysis, and distribution of dual credit/concurrent enrollment student’s information such as grades, enrollments, FAST eligibility, and completion data.
  9. Coordinate dual credit/concurrent enrolled student class offerings and registration in conjunction with Vernon College Instructional Services.
  10. Coordinate scholarship opportunities for dual credit/concurrent enrollment students with the Vernon College Office of Institutional Advancement, Financial Aid, and service area high schools.
  11. Coordinate with the Business Office to secure payment of tuition and fees by acting as a communication liaison with the high school dual credit coordinators. 
  12. Support the Admissions, Recruiting, and Registrar Team with recruiting by assisting with college preview days, campus visits, and tours.
  13. Assist with the collection and analysis of data pertaining to all dual credit/concurrent enrollment students.
  14. Make recommendations to the Assistant Director of Student Success and Director of Student Success to assist with the processes and practices.
  15. Function as a team member of the Division of Student Services professional staff in the development and implementation of processes necessary to accomplish the goals and philosophy of the division and the College.
  16. To assume other responsibilities on assignment by the Assistant Director of Student Success, Director of Student Success, Vice President of Student Services, and the President.

Description of Duties:  Is responsible to the Assistant Director of Student Success and Director of Student Success. Provides coordination of all dual credit/concurrent enrollment to service area high schools and Vernon College through onboarding, academic advising, and ongoing communication. Implement and maintain processes and procedures to enhance recruitment, retention, academic progression, completion of a certificate or associate degree, transfer, student engagement and effective advisement. Assist with the collection and analysis of data pertaining to high impact guidance and intrusive advising activities and programming. Function as a team member of the Division of Student Services professional staff in the development and implementation of processes and procedures necessary to accomplish the goals and philosophy of the division and the college. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff inside and outside of Student Success. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the institutions mission.

Travel Required: Consistent travel to area service high schools.

Experience and Training: Strong communication, interpersonal skills, both oral and written. Good customer service skills. Must be detail oriented.

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrate ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to establish/maintain appropriate and effective communication and interpersonal relations throughout the campus, college, and local community. Maintain a positive, professional and businesslike manner to students and other personnel, at all times. Knowledge of and experience with computer systems, programs and applications. 

Preferred Qualifications: 1-3 years experience in advising or related field. Prior experience working in a high school or college student services/success environment is preferred.

Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree is required.

Salary or Salary Range: This is a full time 12 month position with full time benefits. The salary for this position is based on the Administrative salary schedule. It is rated as 310 points. The salary is $38,201 to $41,153 depending on experience. Applications for this position will be accepted until  December 1st, 2024. This position will be available on January 6th.
