Job Summary

The Department of Molecular & Integrative Physiology seeks applications for a Research Investigator to conduct independent investigations relating to obesity and obesity-linked liver disease and focusing on the roles of RNA modifications and RNA-binding proteins in liver health and disease.

The successful candidate will be expected to work primarily with genetically modified mice, diet-induced obesity and liver disease, metabolically phenotyping, and state of the art technologies to assess RNA modifications and RNA binding proteins, while also participating in the supervision of laboratory technicians, graduate students, and undergraduate trainees.

 

 

Responsibilities*

The Research Investigator will be expected to work largely independently, write drafts of manuscripts, present data at national/international meetings and apply for relevant funding when eligible. The successful candidate will also participate in the supervision of technicians, graduate and undergraduate students, attend lab meetings and relevant seminars and participate in necessary training modules (including Responsible Conduct of Research).

Required Qualifications*

Successful candidates must have: (i) an outstanding research training with previous experience in obesity, metabolism, liver disease, RNA modifications, and RNA-binding proteins (ii) a PhD, MD or combined degrees with postdoctoral training (iii) a well-defined research direction with an excellent publication record that is commensurate with the level of training; (V) the critical elements of teaching (e.g., knowledge of subject matter, skill in presentation, enthusiastic approach).
