Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM or 9AM-6PM, 40 hours per week

 

Pay Range: $17.82-$22.80 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: The Success Coach at JCCC empowers students to achieve their academic and personal goals by providing holistic onboarding, first-semester course information, and ongoing coaching. Utilizing a coaching framework, the Success Coach assists students with onboarding and refers them to Counselors for appropriate first semester courses and information. Serving as a consistent resource throughout new students' enrollment, the coach builds accountability, self-efficacy, and connects students with essential resources. JCCC Success Coaches serve as a continued point-of-contact for the student as they onboard and progress through their journey at JCCC.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of coaching and or advising practices
  • Ability to communicate highly complex information effectively.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • First Semester Onboarding:
    • Clarify the students’ educational goal, understand students’ onboarding needs and make appropriate referrals.
    • Utilize specific technology and program information to provide comprehensive first semester guidance to new students.
    • Guide students through the complexities of college onboarding, including multiple measures.
    • Review and interpret placement scores and transcripts to determine appropriate course placement.
    • Contribute to the maintenance, development, and facilitation of orientation programing and events.
  • Student Coaching and Support:
    • Foster the development of students' skills, behaviors, and habits that contribute to success in college and beyond, such as setting achievable goals, balancing responsibilities, building effective systems, and developing action plans.
    • Assist students in developing resilience and self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success, motivating students to practice self-regulation and to take ownership of their academic success.
    • Monitor progress and appropriately support students from onboarding through graduation via check-ins, scheduled meetings, proactive outreach, and regular communication.
    • Develop and implement targeted communications and plans focused on student development and support strategies based on unique student interests and needs.
    • Gather and analyze student data from various sources, including new student orientation intake surveys, enterprise reports, and success coaching assessments and worksheets, using professional judgment to interpret the results, identify student needs and potential barriers to success, and develop effective intervention strategies.
    • Analyze students’ academic and personal issues and connect them to, or collaborate with, appropriate campus resources to address the students’ needs while maintaining confidentiality.
    • Contribute to the research and development of relevant coaching materials for coaching sessions, workshops, presentations, and other programming for JCCC students.
    • Present workshops on various coaching and onboarding topics.
  • Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling, shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
