Job Description

We are currently seeking an Art Instructor who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.

The Opportunity
You: As an artist with a passion for teaching, you love helping students explore their talents.

Your mission: Teach 2D or 3D studio courses or a combination of studio and lecture courses where applicable.

A typical day: When you’re not teaching, you may be assisting students with opportunities for work (co-ops, part-time, work-study) and careers; evaluating program curricula and/or practices; advising students on academic and/or career pathways; or reviewing books and new learning materials.

Education

One of the following is required from an accredited institution: 1) Master’s degree with both eighteen (18) graduate hours in Studio Art and eighteen (18) graduate hours in Art History; or 2) Master of Fine Arts in a Studio Art concentration.

EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of college level teaching experience required. Classroom instruction as a TA is applicable.

Experience teaching a very diverse student body, as well as, a variety of courses is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must provide resume and cover letter and an artist statement or a statement of teaching philosophy

Willing and able to teach day, evening, or weekend classes

Working knowledge and skill in presentation software (Adobe Suite Applications, PowerPoint or Keynote presentation software, Web 2.0 Applications, Microsoft Word and Excel are preferred)

Candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community and student population

Possess good organizational and planning skills

Possess sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.

Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment

Self-disciplined and able to effectively manage others
