From our Space Sensors Engineering Design office in San Diego, California, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective infrared (IR) Payloads that are hosted on satellites in earth orbit. Primary Responsibilities:
The Modelling & Simulation (Algorithm) Software Engineer will work in a small team environment, developing portions of the M&S framework, with a primary focus on algorithm development for mission data processing. Further, this software engineer will build test scripts for the developed algorithms, and will support transfer of the algorithms to the program development teams for implementation and use on future mission payloads.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work from requirements and/or algorithm designs / concepts to develop software modules for M&S frameworks, M&S tools, and mission data processing algorithms.
- Perform testing of developed software modules and maintains configuration of the source code, documentation, and test configurations.
- Perform all aspects of the software development lifecycle including design, coding, and automated testing.
- Implement Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your teams.
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software source code using modern software scripting languages and tools.
- Provide / author technical documentation, participate in design, code, and software peer reviews.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical / Computer Engineering, Math, or Physics from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum two years of experience programming in scripting languages such as Matlab and Python.
- Minimum two semesters of data structures / algorithms coursework.
- Experience transforming algorithm concepts and/or designs into functioning software.
- Experience debugging software and troubleshooting software related issues.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance. (U.S. Citizenship is required)
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in San Diego, California.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant technology or engineering field.
- Experience on Linux systems.
- Familiarity with software version control tools (i.e., Git, GitLab, etc.).
- Experience in adaptive signal processing and applied mathematics.
- Prior internship experience.
