About the opportunity
The University of Sydney Business School (USBS) holds an esteemed position among the top 1% of global business schools in the world. Reporting to the Faculty General Manager, we are looking to recruit a Head of Business Operations to play a pivotal role in the translation of strategy into effective tactical and operational plans and activities.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- collaborate with the Dean and Faculty General Manager to coordinate the development and implementation of the strategic strategic projects, business requirements, operational and administrative activities for USBS
- guide, develop, and manage a team, including managing performance and development, and for the delegation of work activity across business streams
- develop and manage the overall implementation of strategy, business plans and policies for the University of Sydney Business School, ensuring effective conversion of strategy into operating processes and activities, and the efficient alignment and utilisation of resources
- provide overall general management of operating activities for USBS including effective planning, governance, compliance and control, financial modelling, business case development and decision making to ensure financial and operational objectives and goals are reached
- establish and foster executive level rapport with key stakeholders across the University including Central Services, to facilitate strategic dialogue and influence, driving engagement and impact around major strategies and initiatives for the school
- provide input into talent management and succession planning for professional staff across the school and implement workforce planning, recruitment, and resourcing to ensure the future leadership needs are achieved
- oversee and manage effective customer service delivery functions, business intelligence, web services, external accreditations, administrative systems and practices
About you
- effective operational leadership experience with the proven ability to be flexible, adapt to changing circumstances and environments
- proven ability to conceptualise, develop, implement and review objectives and strategies involving high level liaison with internal and external client areas
- competency in communicating business activities and functions to all audiences
- highly developed stakeholder management skills in collaborating with senior leadership, stakeholders and clients
- wide-ranging diplomacy, project management and executive administration experience
- an agile and flexible approach that is able to pivot and contribute to overall team success
- tertiary qualifications with extensive relevant experience in management and business administration, and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
- excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking skills together with effective leadership and people management skills
- willingness to collaborate with professional and academic staff to drive best practice outcomes and achieve strategic initiatives for USBS
- financial management experience and literacy, experience managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure for an area.
