Your Role
The Utilization Management (UM) Business Processing team supports the reporting and analytical needs of the CalPERS UM Teams. The Business Analyst, Senior will report to the Sr. Manager, Business Process Management. In this role you will provide complex analytical support to the CalPERS UM team, including, but not limited to CalPERS required reporting, production reporting, staffing models, and other reporting to support the CalPERS UM Team. You will bridge both performance and authorization views for the CalPERS business. You will support the improvement of our work and our positive impact on both providers and members.
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Provide complex analytical support through the analysis and interpretation of data in support of cross-functional business operations
- Develop annual operating plans, capital budgets and forecasts, and build business cases for new business initiatives (cost/benefit analysis)
- Develop, prepare, and analyze reports with complex analysis and data for management review, and present to various levels of management
- Define business requirements and provide analysis to increase operational efficiency
- Provide analytical support for multiple, complex cross-functional projects simultaneously; establish work plans and timelines
- Develop, produce, and submit internal and/or CalPERS required reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional business operations teams to ensure CalPERS reporting requirements are met
- Create presentations and reports utilizing tools such as Tableau, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Excel
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Requires at least 5 years of prior relevant experience
- Effective communication skills, oral and written
- Strong problem solver with demonstrated ability to identify root cause of low complexity issues
- Ability to function independently and produce results that meet standards of quality, timeliness, and acceptability
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint in preparing and making presentation to various levels of management
- Prior experience in health insurance industry is preferred
Pay Range
The pay range for this role is: $ 77990.00 to $ 116930.00 for California.

Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
