Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices, as well as proficiency in accounting software such as Quick books online. The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in supporting the financial health of our animal non-profit organization, Companion Animal Foundation.

Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Perform account reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records. Our office manager can help with receipt reconciliation.
- Possess the ability to do monthly input into QB online and to be able to transfer current data to QB online from QB desktop.

- Analyze accounts to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. We only have 1 employee paid through Companion Animal Foundation. All other employees are paid through programs not associated with CAF.
- Prepare financial reports for the Board of Directors (monthly report template)
- Maintain organized records of all financial transactions and documentation for audit purposes.

- Annual communication with accountant and send QB file for annual tax report.

- Complete county 571-L form

- Complete W2 and 1099 (accountant can complete if beyond scope of work)

Requirements
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong skills in accounts payable, account reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, and payroll processing.
- Ability to perform account analysis and prepare detailed financial reports.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members and management.
- A degree in accounting or finance is preferred but not required; relevant experience will be considered.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 3 per week
