SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York. The College has over 7,700 students annually, and services over 6,100 students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Professional Studies, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. Job Description:
SUNY Broome Community College is seeking candidates for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor/Instructor in the Clinical Laboratory Technology Department with a willingness to also serve as Program Director. This exciting career comes with an academic work schedule from August to May with time off to enjoy the summer months. Optional opportunities to teach in summer provide for additional earnings. Ten (10) month salary is spread over twelve (12) months to allow for consistent, uninterrupted pay periods. The department offers fully online A. A. S. programs in Clinical Laboratory Technician and Histological Technician and a Certificate in Histological Technician. The Clinical Laboratory Technician program is fully accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), is NYS licensure preparing, and is a SUNY Online Program.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Clinical coordination, didactic and laboratory instruction, student advisement, participation in accreditation and assessment activities, and committee assignments for the department and the College. Teaches courses, laboratory and clinicals in various modalities, as assigned.
Performs related duties supportive of the educational program including:
- Course revision and development.
- Selection of text and other supplies and equipment and preparation of instructional materials.
- Maintenance and development of laboratory facilities assigned by the department chairperson.
- Evaluation of student performance.
- Assists students outside the scheduled classes.
- Assistance with obtaining and maintaining clinical affiliations.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience teaching undergraduate courses related to clinical laboratory technology and histology. Potential candidates may be required to teach in the various modalities, including face-to-face and online. Candidates should demonstrate a general proficiency with technology and a willingness to be trained to teach in multiple modalities, including face-to-face, online, and Hyflex. Familiarity with the accreditation standards of the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is a plus; commitment to learn if not familiar is required.

Requirements:
The Assistant Professor position requires a Master's degree in an appropriate field with either three (3) years of teaching experience or an appropriate combination of teaching, relevant work experience, and scholarly activity. Additional coursework in an appropriate field is desirable.
The Instructor position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree. Individuals with less than a Master's Degree will be given four (4) years to secure an approved Master's Degree. Work experience in an area appropriate to the teaching field strongly preferred.
ASCP certification or NYS State Licensure is required. Experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist within a variety of clinical areas preferred.
Additional Information:
The annual minimum salary for Assistant Professor is $56,606. Salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
The annual minimum salary for Instructor is $51,914. Salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
