St. Catherine University and the Human Resources Department invites applications for the Director of Human Resources position.

The Director of Human Resources is charged with providing strategic advice, guidance, and leadership across the institutions on key areas of Human Resources. This position must lead the Human Resources team in advancing strategic outcomes related to staffing, recruiting, compensation, employee relations, training, development, union negotiations, benefits, pensions, and other administrative and professional areas. This position will collaborate with the CFO / SVP for Equity & Belonging to build and maintain a culture of engaged and high-performing faculty and staff through the creation of sustainable policies, well designed organizational structures, efficient practices, and equitable compensation and benefit programs.

Leadership
    • In partnership with the CFO, the Director will assist the development and implementation of an HR strategic plan.
    • In collaboration with the CFO, the SVP for Equity & Belonging, and the Chief Legal Officer, the Director will provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of the University’s HR strategy, policies and procedures in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan.
    • Responsible for the day to day operations of the Human Resources Department and drives the continuous enhancement/improvement of the HR operations.
    • This is inclusive of the integration of technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

 


Employee Relations
  • In collaboration with Chief Legal Officer, mitigate risk and enhance employee relations by providing coaching and strategic advice to leaders to ensure equitable treatment and practices.
  • Provide coaching and assistance to supervisors and managers in how to effectively deal with employee concerns and performance issues. This includes facilitating the development of Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Counsel and advise managers in interpreting and applying policies and procedures to resolve employee relation issues.
  • Act as an advocate and provide guidance and support to employees in how to navigate difficult situations, provide thoughtful feedback to supervisors and/or colleagues, and resolve conflicts in a respectful and professional manner.

Title IX Coordinator
  • Lead the development, implementation, ongoing evaluation and review of the University’s Title IX policy.
  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and conduct educational programs and initiatives designed to educate and support faculty, staff, and students regarding their rights and obligations under Title IX.
  • Identify systemic problems related to complaints and determine any required changes to policy/practices/training etc.

Total Rewards Planning
  • Partner with CFO to develop, communicate and administer competitive total rewards strategies, including compensation, benefits, retirement, recognition, engagement, and other programs that are cost effective and consistent with market trends and organizational objectives.
  • Work in partnership with the CFO and the University Leadership Team to develop and periodically update the compensation philosophy statement and compensation strategy and supporting policies and practices to support organizational goals and to recruit and retain top talent.
  • Oversee the design and administration of compensation programs including base pay, variable pay, merit, compensation planning, and market analysis with a focus on continuous improvement.

Talent Management and Acquisition
  • Work in partnership with the CFO and the Human Resources Department in developing and maintaining a human capital strategy for the University – inclusive of but not limited to, workforce planning, recruitment, acquisition, onboarding, talent development, talent management, total rewards and compensation strategy, development of employer brand, employee engagement strategy and performance management.
  • Partner with the SVP for Equity & Belonging and the HR Manager to develop and implement a plan to diversify the faculty and staff at the University. This includes examining potential barriers to employee recruitment, hiring, and retention and the establishment of metrics.
  • Work in partnership with the SVP of Equity & Belonging to assess employee professional development needs and develop and implement a professional development plan.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience managing a team of human resources professionals
  • Five (5) years experience overseeing a broad range of human resources functions, including workforce planning, recruitment, talent management, total rewards and compensation strategy, and performance management
  • Experience communicating effectively with internal and external communities
  • Customer service commitment to employees and students
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills to work in complex systems
  • Solid management skills to lead a human resources staff of seven

 


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience at a senior level
  • SHRM or other HR certification
  • Title IX Coordinator experience
  • Previous work at a non-profit or university environment
