Responsibilities
Position Description
 
The Accountant II- Investment & Travel is a member of Lamar State College Orange (LSCO), Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA), and Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT). The position also assists the Texas State University System (TSUS) Office of Finance. The position works under the immediate supervision of the Executive Director of Financial Services and assists with investments, travel, and other projects.

Essential Duties
  • Reconcile investment statements and prepare periodic journal entries to record investment activity;
  • Prepare investment documentation for TSUS components monthly, quarterly, and annually;
  • Assist in preparing the Quarterly Investment Report for TSUS;
  • Review and approve travel vouchers and submit for payment;
  • Assist with TSUS financial transactions including vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and budget transactions;
  • Review finance related documents to ensure compliance with applicable policy, regulations, and laws;
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc finance related statements, reports, schedules, and exhibits;
  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report and other financial reports submitted to a variety of constituents;
  • Maintain complete and organized finance related records in related areas;
  • Perform other duties necessary to support the efficient operation of the TSUS Business Shared Services Group;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required
 
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field;
    • Three (3) or more years of recent, progressively responsible professional experience in finance operations;
    • Investment accounting experience.

 

 
Experience/Skills Required
  • Knowledge of professional standards, financial reporting and accounting theory;
  • ·Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
  • Familiarity with NACUBO financial accounting and reporting guidelines;
  • Ability to think both creatively and analytically in resolving complex issues;·
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to efficiently organize, prioritize, schedule and manage work activities, tasks and assignments;
  • Ability to work under deadlines and communicate information quickly and accurately;
  • Ability to handle complexity and work independently under general supervision with moderate latitude for the exercise of initiative and independent judgement;
  • Advanced skill using computer information systems and computer applications to input, retrieve, and manipulate financial information;
  • A focus on timely customer service.

Physical Requirements
 
This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.




Salary $51,000 - $55,000
