Job Description

Under general supervision, provides protective services to assigned locations, patients, visitors, and staff. Adheres to UCSD Health Sciences and departmental quality service standards. Patrols UCSD Health Sciences premises on foot or in a vehicle to protect life and property. Manages disruptive persons professionally with a minimum use of force; controls access to restricted and security-sensitive areas; responds to fire/security alarm activations, assumes scene command in emergency situations; observes and reports safety hazards, gives direction and assistance to UCSD Enterprise clientele. Performs other related duties and functions appropriate to the job classification as needed.
Security Agents are not sworn peace officers, are not armed, and have citizen arrest authority only.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCalifornia Guard Registration.
Must have valid California Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
Two (2) years of security or security related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
BART and IAHSS certified within six (6) months of hire date.
Skills, knowledge, and ability essential to successfully perform the duties assigned to the position.
Ability to adhere to dress code at all times.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- One (1+) or more years of experience in hospital security.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Must be willing to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $48,045 - $59,759 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $23.01 - $28.62
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
