Executive Vice President

General Overview:

TheExecutive Vice President (EVP) serves as the chief executive officer of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Harrisburg and is responsible for the overall leadership, partnering with the Board of Directors to effectively conduct the affairs of the Association. The EVP assists the Board in the formulation of the Associations mission, goals and objectives and related policies. The EVP plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the staff in implementing programs and activities of the Association. The EVP is responsible for the development and management of special events of the association, including the Parade of Homes, consumer programs, social and networking events and bringing continuity for all events and enhancing the image of the industry to members and consumers.

The EVP has regular contact with the Association's elected officers, Board of Directors, and committees on policy matters and other issues as appropriate. The EVP maintains personal contact with regional, state or national organizations and the general membership to the greatest degree possible. The EVP maintains appropriate relationships with other associations, industry, government, public service organizations and vendors to enhance the image of the Association and the attainment of its objective.

The EVP has direct responsibility for communications, marketing, event management, organizational planning, public relations, membership recruitment and retention, legal issues, workforce development and government affairs.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

o Informs the leadership about the conditions and operations of the Association, attends meetings of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, prepares the agendas, minutes, budgets and reports.

o Executes all decisions of the Board;

o Plans, formulates and recommends for the approval by the Board of Directors policies, procedures, programs and events to implement the direction established by the Board;

o Partners with the Board of Directors to maintain an ongoing process of strategic plan development, implementation and evaluation;

o Assists the Board of Directors with the development of volunteer leadership;

o Executes all operational contracts and commitments as authorized by the Board of Directors or established policies;

o Promotes interest and active participation in the Association's activities on the part of the membership and reports activities of the Board and Association to the members through the communications media of the Association;

o Establishes an organizational structure for the staff;

o Recruits, hires, trains, reviews and terminates staff and administers an effective personnel program which includes position descriptions, performance standards, performance appraisals and a compensation system with the guidance and approval of the Executive Committee;

o Manages all employee benefit plans to include health, dental, vision, life, ST and LTD, 401K as well as all business insurances for the Organization and all reporting associated with said plans;

o In cooperation with the Finance Committee and Treasurer, the EVP develops, recommends and submits for approval by the Board an annual budget. Ensures that funds, physical assets and other property of the Association are safeguarded and administered. Executes by-law provisions; provides all documentation in preparation for the annual audit.

o Takes an active role of all financial matters, including receipts and disbursements made in conjunction with membership, programs, events, operational expenses and building maintenance;

o Supports the membership development, member retention and membership services programs,

o Plans, coordinates and conducts a public relations program to enhance public acceptance of the industry;

o Oversees the HBA Political Action Committee; events, receipts, political contributions and PAC reporting to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

o Provides primary staff support for the HBA, Pennsylvania Builders Association (PBA) and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) legislative activities and related PAC involvement;

o Acts as a liaison with PBA and NAHB, attending member and Executive Officer Council meetings;

o Carries out all responsibilities as may be delegated by the officers and the Board of Directors.

 

Qualifications:

· 1-5 years non-profit leadership experience or experience in a similar position with relevant knowledge.

· Servant Leadership style.

· This is a hands-on position. Must be willing to do the work alongside the staff to accomplish all goals delegated by a Governance Board and the organization.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail a must.

· Sales experience desired; position will help sell memberships and event sponsorships.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM Management experience required.

· Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact and WordPress strongly preferred.

· Non-Profit Board or Volunteer experience a plus.

· CAE, IOM or CCE certification a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
