Adjunct Faculty - Welding (Star Valley High School)
Job Description
Western Wyoming Community College (Western) invites applications for a concurrent instructor in Welding. This position will consist of teaching concurrent welding courses in Afton Wyoming within the Lincoln County School District #2 via the institution’s learning management system. Responsibilities will include supporting Western’s Guiding Principles and upholding the mission of a comprehensive 2-year community college. Applicants should be currently employed by Lincoln County School District #2.
PRIMARY DUTIES
PRIMARY DUTIES
1. Provides quality instruction to students in assigned courses, including, but not limited to welding technology courses and related subjects. Classes taught may include Oxy-acetylene, Weld Inspection Technology, GMAW, FCAW, FTAW, SMAW, Plate and Pipe Welding, Pipefitting, and Weld Testing.
2. Provides quality learning experiences for all students enrolled in accordance with their needs and abilities while maintaining the basic integrity of the course standards and objectives.
3. States clear objectives and criteria for each course syllabus; follows the Curriculum Committee’s guidelines regarding course syllabi; integrates the appropriate College’s learning goals into each course; and evaluates student performance in light of these objectives and criteria.
4. Learns to communicate clearly and effectively using the college network system, including the e-mail and calendar system, MyWestern, Canvas, and word processing; integrates learning with technology into the classroom as appropriate.
5. Refers students to the resources in the College Learning Center, Peer Tutor Center, NetTutor, Library, Mustang Success, and Wellbeing and Accessibility.
6. Submits syllabi, student evaluations, grades, and other required information in a timely manner.
7. Communicates regularly and in a timely manner with the Departmental Facilitator and the School Chair as requested by either.
8. Maintains and repairs lab/education training equipment and facilities; designs and builds training models as necessary.
9. Participate in annual Adjunct In-Service, all departmental assessments, Title IX and other trainings.
1. Five years of welding experience.
2. CWE and CWI certification; must be obtained within one year of employment.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, technologies, principles and practices of Welding Technology.
4. Three Qualifying Options:
a) No degree, but has eight (8) years of Discipline-Specific Training and *Tested Experience.
b) Associate’s degree in Welding Technology or related field, or graduation from a certified 2-year Welding Technology program or equivalent, and four (4) years of Discipline-Specific Training and *Tested Experience

c) Bachelor Degree in field
*Tested Experience– “breadth and depth of experience outside of the classroom in real- world situations relevant to the discipline in which the faculty member would be teaching.”
5. All Faculty are required to – or will before beginning instruction – be current on any relevant professional certifications expected within their area of expertise. Faculty will hold all reasonable and relevant certifications as identified by the full-time faculty in the academic area.
6. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
7. Ability to exercise sound judgment in all facets of the student-teacher relationship and to teach a diverse group of community college students.
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and administrators.
9. Evidence of continued professional development.
1. Experience using active approaches to learning; experience using alternative methods of learning, such as interactive software, Internet, or individualized modular programs.
2. Active participation in relevant professional organizations.
3. Demonstrated teaching excellence at a community college.
