Job Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Marketing is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of athletic media and marketing plans for the intercollegiate sports programs. The individual will be responsible for all athletic public relations in conjunction with the University’s Media Relations Office and outside media constituents. The incumbent will be responsible for management of all in-game statistics and management of their records along with their distribution to the visiting opponent, CIAA and NCAA. The individual will be responsible for the athletic website to include design, athletic stories, statistical data, records, and history on current and past Lincoln University athletes, coaches and administrators and the management/monitoring of the athletic department social media platforms. The position requires effective communication skills and the ability to provide public relations advice and counsel to the Director of Athletics, athletic staff and student-athletes. The position requires the ability to market the athletic program to various venues and to develop or manage the creation of graphics for the social media platforms.(i.e. corporate sponsors, media, prospective student-athletes). This position will also manage all aspects of our Live Stream platforms including management of staff, third party groups and any television productions (live or taped delayed). The Director of Athletics will serve as the primary supervisor as well as one of the Associate Athletic Directors within the department for this position.
 
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including late night and weekend hours
  • Have streaming and broadcast operations experience. i.e. Blue Frame/Production Truck/Scorebot.
  • Management of third party entities in relation to live stream, statistical services, social media content creation and game day staff.
  • Working knowledge of website management (preferably SIDEARM)
  • Maintains and updates the Intercollegiate Athletics Website
  • Serves as primary media contact for multiple programs managing media relations, publications, and social media
  • Helps execute the department’s social media strategy across all platforms to increase viewers and creative content
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with members of the media, coaches, student-athletes, athletics staff, parents, fans, and alumni
  • Must be able to supervise communications staff (Interns, contractors & third party)
  • Assists with the creation of a variety of videos for social media, in venue, and marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to work independently as well as lead projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope, responsibility, and job requirements
  • Experience in assigned worked area, knowledge of marketing and promotional programs, and experience / exposure working in different types of NCAA Division II settings.
  • Must be able to support the University’s and Athletics Department’s mission.
  • Create an atmosphere of compliance while adhering to all OSHA, NCAA, CIAA and Lincoln University Athletic Department & University Rules and Regulations.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize events and conditions dealing with fundraising and the management of the athletic program.
  • Proficient in StatCrew, NCAA Genius and other statistical software
  • Maintain detailed and accurate files and records.
  • Work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Use good judgment in recognizing the scope of authority.
  • Organize tasks and time to ensure timely completion of all projects and responsibilities.
  • Adapt to and support a changing work environment.
  • Work extended days and weekends.
  • Ability to operate an automobile, possession of a valid driver’s license, and an insurable driving record.
  • Travel by air or ground transportation.
Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
Physical Demands
Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.
 
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work. Travel for administrative work is expected. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
