Accounts Payable Associate
Job Description
This is a modified full-time, hourly position reporting directly to the Associate Controller. The Accounts Payable Associate will perform bookkeeping, clerical, accounts payable and procurement duties as they relate to the daily responsibilities of the department and work collaboratively with other departments within the University. The Accounts Payable Associate ensures that business activities are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and support all aspects of the Accounts Payable and Procurement functions from requisition creation to payment reconciliation and ensures the highest standard of customer service.
- Receive, process and record invoices, employee reimbursements, and other statements.
- Issue checks, code payments, type memos, and maintain accounts payable ledgers.
- Review, input and process journal vouchers.
- Verify items billed against items ordered and received, and reconcile differences.
- Be a point of contact for all vendors regarding payment of invoices, disputes and credit invoices as well as duplicate payments.
- Accurately post financial data to appropriate ledger accounts in Banner.
- Review departmental budgets and provide support to departments regarding budget activity, analysis and available balances.
- Preform monthly audit of departmental credit card statements
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in business related field.
- 2 to 3 years of relevant accounts payable or bookkeeping experience.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of automated accounting systems, experience with Banner preferred.
- Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively with various constituencies.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and meet timelines.
- Customer-focused aptitude.
- Strong organizational and communication skills –both written and oral.
- Ability to compare data from multiple sources and check for accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide mathematical figures accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of higher education business practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $20.41 per hour
Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate’s actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
This is a full-time position. Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time employee’s date of hire and include – health, dental and vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from the university after one year. Paid holidays, vacation, personal leave and sick leave. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.
