POSITION SUMMARY (Basic purpose or primary function of job)
The Director of Community Connections is responsible for the strategic development and management of the Connect Group program and the Online Network Volunteers. This includes developing strategies that drive consumer and volunteer engagement for both online and in-person support groups and engaging with online communities; the continued assessment of these two initiatives and the identification of gaps and needs as measured against goals; creating/managing an appropriate feedback loop with volunteers and staff; developing training resources and delivering training to volunteers; and building and managing community partnerships and collaborations. This position requires cross-departmental collaboration to support volunteer development and management, curriculum development, staff, and volunteer teams on formulating concepts, identifying execution tactics, identifying/managing technology needs, producing project components, and marketing to target audiences.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Principal responsibilities or job duties)
1. Strategy & Goal Development: Creates overarching strategies and tracks metrics for progressive and sustained growth for online and in-person Connect Groups (support groups) and their participants and effective engagement of the Online Network Volunteers.
2. Community Partnership and Collaborations: Identify opportunities to partner or collaborate with community organizations. Manage all relationships supporting the delivery and promotion of Connect Groups.
3. Tech Management: Collaborates with internal cross-functional teams to ensure the technology platforms and user experience for Connect Groups function effectively. Communicate with volunteers and staff on any updated technology fixes or enhancements.
4. Volunteer Engagement & Communication: Works collaboratively with Volunteer Services to ensure that volunteer engagement processes are streamlined for both Facilitators and Online Network Volunteers. Create/manage a communication process that facilitates opportunities for ongoing support and feedback process with internal staff and volunteers to monitor for ongoing improvement needs.
5. Volunteer Training & Development: Develops and delivers volunteer training and collaborates with the Volunteer Services Team to ensure updated training content and relevant resources/materials are created and made available to Facilitators and Online Network Volunteers.
6. Program Development and Evaluation: Work with patients and healthcare providers to develop and assess a program curriculum that enhances learning outcomes and positive behavior change.
7. Other Projects: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support patient education, community impact and other projects as assigned.
8. Budget: Oversees and manages financial resources within the established annual program budget and the preparation of the annual budget and program planning.
9. Goals and Mission: Works collaboratively and productively with internal and external stakeholders to promote initiatives that advance the Arthritis Foundation's mission and goals.
10. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
1. A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a health-related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a health-related cause, non-profit, university, government, or related business environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Strong skills in developing, managing, and growing community support programs and volunteers. Demonstrated success in providing support to program participants and conducting effective outreach activities.
3. Demonstrated success in building and managing collaborative community relationships and strategic alliances.
4. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to set goals and meet deadlines.
5. Superior oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact positively and work collaboratively in a diverse environment with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization, including staff and volunteers.
6. Strong time management, project management, and meeting management skills.
7. Able to plan, forecast, and manage programs, program budgets, and expenses.
8. Ability to work independently as a motivated self-starter with limited supervision and manage projects to completion with accountability for goal setting and results.
9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), web-based applications, social media, and computer equipment.
10. Ability to work in a remote/virtual environment.
11. Some travel required.
