The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at the University of California San Diego is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to conduct epidemiologic research focused on the multi-omics of aging and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The successful candidate will be paid a competitive salary and will be provided with 3 years of funding to conduct rigorous research focused on leveraging large-scale, cutting-edge proteomic and epigenetic data to advance understanding of the link between aging, AD, and longevity.

The Post-Doctoral Fellow will be mentored by Dr. Aladdin Shadyab, Associate Professor of Public Health and Medicine, and will focus on the identification and characterization of novel blood-based aging biomarkers related to age-related outcomes including AD and longevity. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will also receive mentorship from other senior faculty with expertise in aging and AD research. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will work in a collegial environment and join a multidisciplinary, diverse team at the forefront of aging and AD research. There will also be opportunities for career development including grant writing mentorship and preparing career development grants.

Responsibilities

· Perform analysis of epigenetic and proteomic data to identify novel blood-based biomarkers for aging and AD using R

· Present data at scientific conferences

· Write and publish first-author manuscripts under the guidance of the PI

Required Qualifications

· PhD degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related discipline

· Demonstrated experience in proteomic and/or epigenetic data analysis in the context of aging is highly preferred, along with experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, genomics, or geroscience

· Rigorous training and expertise in biostatistics and data analysis

· Strong writing skills

· Strong programming skills in R

· Ability to analyze data using multivariable modeling including Cox proportional hazards regression, logistic regression, linear mixed models, and generalized estimating equations

· Publication record in aging or multi-omics research including first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
