The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for preparing various asset, liability, revenue, and expense reconciliations, posting other activities to the general ledger and account analysis. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for completing other tasks assigned to support the day-to-day operations of the Controller’s Office.

Job Summary
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of regular and special financial and statistical statements and reports, including those required during the annual audit.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for review by the Controller.
- Assist in editing accounts payable transactions.
- Assist in month end close process and financial reporting.
- Prepare the monthly financial aid reconciliation to general ledger for federal and state financial assistance programs.
- Enforce internal controls and procedures to promote more effective and efficient operations within the Controller’s Office.
- Reconcile various assets, liability, revenue, and expense accounts.
- Expense variance analysis and balance sheet skims
- Tracks capital assets and depreciation.
- Completes other departmental projects and audit items as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Banner Software.
- Attention to Detail and thoroughness.
- Analyzing Information.
- PC Proficiency and data entry skills.
- General Math Skills..
- Nonprofit accounting experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Accounting/Finance.
- 2-3 years of Accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with Banner preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
