PRIMARY FUNCTION
Our Federal |Transportation team is looking to add an experienced team member to our group of talented Project Managers. The candidate should have broad expertise, with a focus on Federal Government and Transportation (Vertical) projects and be enthused about joining HED's shared commitment to Advancing Your World through Critical Thinking, Integrated Practice, and Design Excellence. At HED we look to our project managers to lead the project team and be the key point of contact with our client. In this role the successful candidate will be able to navigate the challenges of contract review, understand and manage financial risks to ensure that the team delivers a technically superior project while remaining profitable. Operational experience is imperative for success in this role. Not only will you be asked to assess performance on your projects, but through our internal review process we look to our project managers to help their partners across all market sectors improve through constructive insights.

TYPICAL DUTIES
- Project Managers at HED are responsible for leading teams in all aspects of our professional services while maintaining liaison between the project team, client, consultants, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction over the project. The Project Manager works in collaboration with the Principal-in-Charge and the Project Architect/Engineer to create and deliver Positive Impact for our clients, colleagues, and community.
- Fundamental to the PM role is spearheading the team's efforts in achieving Design Excellence through establishing project Goals, defining and executing Strategies to achieve these, and tracking and capturing the Results.
- Project Managers lead and facilitate all project activities and processes from the initial marketing effort (including participation in interviews and preparation of proposals) to scope refinement and planning, through the design, permit, bid and construction administration phases, and the post-construction evaluation.
- PMs manage day-to-day client relations and project activities, potentially on multiple projects at one time. Responsibilities include fee and contract negotiations and ongoing management, planning and schedule development and monitoring, project scope and financial management, coordination of quality reviews, and facilitation of workplans to determine staffing needs.
- A successful Project Manager will be able to work with team members in all disciplines, and across multiple geographic locations. This allows projects to be staffed with the best team members available, not just based on location.
- Project Managers will work closely with Business Leaders, Operations Leaders, and Market Sector leaders in the development of new and existing clients, and consideration of future work.
- Project Managers may from time to time be asked to participate in projects outside of their core sector with appropriate for the client and HED.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum twelve years' professional experience in the A/E industry.
- Highly experienced in operational management.
- Experience in project financial and risk management.
- Experience with General Services Administration, Department of Energy, NAVFAC or other Federal Government entities projects preferred.
- Familiarity with FAR and other overreaching government regulations.
- Have the ability to work on US Government projects.
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of professional services from business development through project close-out, including design and technical expertise.
- Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills including the ability to lead, motivate, and work well with others.
- Proactive, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible.
- Strong business acumen.
- Strategic outlook, with an eye for detail.
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering or related project management field required. Specific experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
- Professional Licensure required.
- LEED Accreditation preferred.
- Current or Prior security clearance a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Capable of traveling to and from project sites, both locally and across the US and potentially outside of the US; attending client, project, and construction meetings.
- Ability to access existing and new project sites for observation, investigation, and evaluation purposes.
- Ability to use office equipment for communication and documentation purposes.
- Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
