Benefits Support Specialist

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland is seeking a Benefits Support Specialist who has Benefits administration experience. Our best candidate is an organized, strategic minded, highly effective people and administrative minded person with expertise in Benefits and HR guidelines to support our staff and processes. Candidate will need grit and influence capability to succeed in supporting a widely dispersed, mixed capacity workforce and to maximize and demonstrate impact in support of our goal to establish Catholic Charities as the "Employer of Choice" in this region through data-driven effort.

This professional will be joining an administrative service team that is devoted to the furtherance of established essential principles that enhance our ability to make the "Greatest Contribution" possible to our programs, services and staff. Our team's focus for 2021 is the advancement of Recruitment and Retention successes for the entire organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
  • Respond to routine inquiries to include employment verifications related to medical benefits.
  • Consult with Director(s) and/or managers about newly available benefits.
  • Perform benefits audits and reconciliation of HRIS data related to benefits administration, including benefit premiums.
  • Identify and clearly address all employee benefits questions related to health care plans enrollment and changes; escalate concerns to HR management as necessary.
  • Manage tuition assistance invoices and assigned benefit billings.
  • Promptly process employee terminations updates with the Diocese to include name and address changes and medical benefits status.
  • Prepares and processes reports such as monthly, quarterly and annual benefits reports as instructed to include letters for employee job changes, transitions and promotions.
  • Participate in Filing Fridays as directed.
  • Manage the organization’s annual United Way Campaign for Cuyahoga County.
  • Manage flexible spending account enrollments, inquiries and updates to include open enrollment.
  • Process Prudential billing invoices for group term life, short-term disability/long-term disability, AD&D and retiree term insurance.
  • Maintain a tracking system for HSA account numbers for new hires and existing employees
  • Maintain a weekly roster of employees with increased hours or decreased hours.
  • Administer 401(K) approvals or denials for hardship withdrawals and loan requests.
  • Manage Principal Voluntary Term life enrollments, inquires, communications with carrier.
  • Administratively manage employee population records in 401(k), voluntary life, flexible spending accounts.
  • Administer processing of retiree billing for DOC and Medical Mutual as well as voluntary life billing
  • Support annual and ongoing benefits enrollment activities and events to ensure accuracy of all plan eligibility rules as instructed.
  • Manage the annual Service Awards Recognition process and ceremony.
  • Co-design and deliver benefits presentations for New Hire Orientation, open enrollment, the HRIS, Constant Contact and submit benefits-related documents to be published on the HR Intranet page.
  • Lead the Wellness Committee in developing and delivering a Wellness Program for the organization to include small-scale events planning, organizational activities and appropriate educational tips.
  • Manage HR Thrive Newsletter.
  • Lead planning of HR benefits site visits across the counties of Cuyahoga, Wayne, Lake, Geauga, Summit, Lorain, Medina and Ashland.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives.

Requirements:

  • Combination of education and experience normally represented by a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field and 5 years of relevant experience in a business administration environment.
  • Knowledge of UKG or other HRIS preferred.
  • Must have the ability to effectively function as a member of a team and interact with all levels of staff.
  • Must possess a professional demeanor as well as commitment to customer service.
  • Must be a self-directed individual with a high degree of discretion due to the confidential nature of Human Resources communications.
  • Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including presentation skills in order to work and correspond with a variety of people both internal and external.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.

  • Must be able to work with a high level of speed and accuracy.
  • Must be well organized, efficient and detail oriented and have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have the ability to work independently from general instruction and the ability to effectively prioritize assignments.
