JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TYPE: Management – Full-time Exempt
DESCRIPTION: Human Resources Manager sets the tone for the entire human resources department. From employee relations to payroll to compliance issues, the HR department helps ensure that an organization runs smoothly, and the Human Resources Manager is at the helm.
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
SALARY: $80,000-$85,000 plus benefits
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding.
- Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations.
- Develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities.
- Create a compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keeps the strategy up to date.
- Investigate employee issues and conflicts and brings them to resolution.
- Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Use performance management tools to provide guidance and feedback to team.
- Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently.
- Maintain company organization charts and employee directory.
- Partner with management to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives.
- Maintain HR systems and processes.
- Conduct performance and salary reviews
- Provide support and guidance to HR staff.
- Analyze trends in compensation and benefits.
- Design and implement employee retention strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements for this Position:
▪ Bachelor’s or preferably a Master’s degree in human resources management or equivalent.
▪ Experience in nonprofit organizations a plus.
▪ Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
▪ Experience in educating and coaching staff.
▪ Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations.
▪ Experience in following and maintaining workplace privacy.
▪ Ability to give presentations.
▪ Knowledge of relevant CA health and safety laws.
▪ Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
▪ Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
▪ Effective oral and written communication skills
▪ Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
▪ Must be able to adapt to fast-paced environment.
▪ Must have own transportation to conduct job related travel and must be able to drive agency vehicles.
▪ Must meet insurance carrier’s requirements for approval to drive.
▪ Must possess a valid driver license.
Physical Working Conditions and Office Setting Description
- Some travel required to field locations to facilitate execution of responsibilities. Must maintain a current driver’s license and valid auto insurance with a minimum of state required levels
- Requires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping and stretching
- Some lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required
- Frequent and prolonged typing, as well as operation of a computer. Use of keyboards and phones required
