Governors State University is seeking to hire a HR Benefits Officer. Under general supervision from the Associate Director of Benefits and Employee Engagement/ADA Coordinator, the HR Benefits Officer is responsible for providing information and services to Governors State University (GSU) employees and extended customers regarding all benefits and employee engagement initiatives and may be asked to support other various human resources functions. This position is critical in advancing and entering information into various human resources systems and providing data/report analysis as needed.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Responsibilities: 20%Preparation and application of data related to benefits, retirements, leaves, and otherrelevant areas. Provides administration and accountability of the State of Illinoisinsurance plans and the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) plans.Responsible for monitoring the individual benefits accounts provided by the Department of Central Management Services (CMS) and SURS. These duties include data input of related benefit changes, leave codes, CMS related employee payroll adjustments, andtermination and retirement data for both CMS and SURS.20%Primary lead for the medical leave of absence programs to include Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), extended medical leaves, and SURS disability.20%At direction of Associate Director of Benefits and Employee Engagement, facilitatesemployee engagement programs and event planning, including the Annual EmployeeAppreciation Picnic, Annual Employee Recognition Program, wellness initiatives, and the Civil Service Employee of the Month program.10%Presents New Hire Orientation and Onboarding on a bimonthly basis.10%Provides information to employees and assists in enrollment into optional 403b and 457b retirement plans, optional benefits offerings, and wellness offerings.5%Completes audits by deadlines as needed.5%Provides training to departments on benefits related issues.5%Ensures that confidential human resource paper and electronic files and records aremaintained in accordance with legal requirements and GSU policies and procedures.5%Other duties as assigned.Salary Range: $43,992.00 to $48,000.00.(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).This position qualifies for an expansive suite of fringe benefits including, various insurance options, paid time off, retirement and investment options, and tuition waivers.
