US Partnerships Coordinator

LOCATION: Position can be remote / Headquarters is in New York City

More in Common US is seeking a full-time Partnerships Coordinator to help advance its mission of building a more united America, where all people feel respected and better understood, and where they share a sense of belonging. The Partnerships Coordinator will work closely with the US Senior Associate to develop and execute our partnerships strategy. The Partnerships Coordinator will also work closely with our research and operations teams, integrating partnerships into all aspects of our work. The Partnerships Coordinator role is full-time and reports to the US Senior Associate.

More in Common has its main office in New York City; however, the Partnerships Coordinator can work remotely (with expected work hours of 9am-6pm EST), with periodic travel to the New York and Washington DC areas.

More in Common US is a research and civic non-profit that is part of a new international initiative, set up in 2017 to build communities and societies that are stronger, more united and more resilient to increasing threats of polarization and social division. We work alongside of national teams in Germany, France, Poland and the United Kingdom.

We conduct research into populations through the lens of identity, values, and beliefs. We leverage our findings to apply interventions with partners to counter polarization and build stronger shared identities across lines of difference. Some examples of our work include partnering with a broad and diverse network of civil society actors to bolster Americans’ confidence in the resilience of our elections; advising philanthropic actors on how to best support efforts to strengthen social cohesion; and training civil society actors on methods for communicating across ideological lines in ways that reduce polarization and foster a shared sense of identity.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

More in Common US is looking for a Partnerships Coordinator, a mission-driven individual, excited to help a wide range of partners build capacity to address polarization. This involves turning cutting-edge political and attitudinal research into tools, resources, and support for partners leading real-world projects that reduce polarization and build connections across lines of difference. This role is for someone:

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Partnerships Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to lead the operational elements for More in Common’s partnership strategy. This encompasses managing projects as well as the database and other tools we use to support our partners. This also involves tracking, reporting, and enhancing the variables we use to assess our effectiveness in supporting partners and achieving impact. This role is an integral part in ensuring More in Common sustains and strengthens our capacity as a world-class partner organization.

Partnership Strategy and Operations

  • Project Management - Work directly with the US Senior Associate and others on the team to provide day-to-day support and management for a range of partnership projects, where we apply our research and experience to support initiatives that foster greater resiliency against efforts to divide Americans and that create stronger, more inclusive feelings of community. This could include, for example, managing and coordinating meetings for an active network of partners table of organizations interested in storytelling related to America’s 250th in 2026 or managing a one-to-one project where we train an organization in methods to overcome polarization. Project management includes building and updating the project folder and related project management tool; setting up and running meetings; regularly liaising/communicating with partners; and tracking project timelines, milestones, and budgets.

  • Partnership Strategy - Work with the US Senior Associate to build out new partnerships by developing strong relationships with funders, practitioners, and institutional actors from politics, civil society, faith, the private sector, and other domains. This involves supporting the US Senior Associate in building, socializing, and then producing models, frameworks, and an array of services and tools to better support current and future partners. This includes services such as scenario planning, organizing and facilitating convenings, measurement and evaluation, messaging and communications supports, among others.

  • Partnership Operations - Work directly with the US Senior Associate, Chief of Staff, and others on the team to develop and manage internal systems for partnership support. This involves database management, developing systems to onboard and engage with new partners, and tracking internal metrics.

Research

  • Develop familiarity with More in Common’s research methods, assets, and projects.

  • Work with the US Senior Associate and members of the research team to integrate partnership considerations into all elements of research, from the design to dissemination phase.

Field Building

  • Work with the US Senior Associate to identify and execute strategies for growing and strengthening the field of actors engaged in social cohesion work.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

We look for great people before we look for specific qualifications and experience. However, the following will be an asset for this role:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent organization and project management skills

  • Detail-oriented

  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders

  • Experience leading, managing, or coordinating complex projects that involve coordinating the actions of multiple stakeholder groups

  • Comfort navigating spreadsheets and converting data into presentation material; experience with project management and customer relationship management tools is a plus

  • Comfortable working collaboratively with a wide range of partners from across the ideological spectrum from inception through to project delivery and evaluation

  • Demonstrated curiosity for understanding and engaging people, and a desire to tell new stories that focus on Americans feeling part of our shared national project

 

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive salary (between $60,000 and $65,000) and excellent benefits including generous leave policy, matching 401(k), and medical.
