Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, College Park invites applications for a full-time Lecturer with a primary emphasis in undergraduate physical chemistry laboratory education. The departmental undergraduate program is responsible for the chemical and biochemical instruction of more than 6000 students annually. The successful candidate’s main assignments will be overall responsibility for two physical chemistry laboratory courses, with additional teaching responsibilities in related areas such as general chemistry each term. The former will involve coordinating and teaching the laboratory, content development, technical support, and the training and supervision of teaching assistants. Additional responsibilities may include advising undergraduates, participation in grant development, and other instructional duties as required. A Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related discipline and substantial experience with modern physical chemistry methods and measurements are required. Expected start date is August, 2021. This is a renewable, non-tenured position with a history of continuity.
