Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The position works closely with the Academic Achievement Programs (AAP) Math component staff to effectively provide math support to AAP students enrolled at UMD. The duties and responsibilities generally entail, but not limited to, the following:
• Teach entry-level math support classes.
• Conduct individualized instruction.
• Assist in administering and evaluating pre/post placement tests.
• Assist the AAP Math Coordinator in developing curricula for math support classes and Summer Transitional Programs (STP) math preparation courses.
• Assist in training and supervising student interns.
• Maintain records of students’ progress and attendance.
• Create, conduct and grade assessments.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. in Mathematics or Mathematics Education. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in teaching entry-level undergraduate math courses.
Additional Information:
Graduating seniors and doctoral students in mathematics, math education, or engineering are also encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to the candidate with prior experience in teaching entry-level undergraduate mathematics.
