Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Office of Smith Programs & Events seeks a student event assistant who would work on various projects and administrative tasks assigned by office personnel, reporting to the Coordinator. Responsibilities will include: – composing, drafting, proofing, and editing written materials; – answering calls and responding to email inquiries; – database entries and updating; – program and event attendee registration; – conducting research on best practices; – gathering data for programs and events; – preparing event materials including agendas, name badges, signage, etc.; – setting up for events, monitoring catering and other vendors, monitoring event breakdown; – organizing meetings; – assisting with other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- An exceptional candidate will be a detail-oriented, proactive self-starter, have good organizational skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and the capacity to work collaboratively as well as independently.
- Proficiency in the use of Google Suite and Microsoft Office products is required.
- Knowledge of and experience with using EMS, Cvent or similar event management and registration applications is a plus.

Must be enrolled in the Robert H. Smith School of Business undergraduate program at the University of Maryland.
